Rick from the Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team (you may remember him with the snakes at last years National Trails Day) will lead a family walk on Saturday April 17 from 1 to 3 to explore local vernal ponds and explain their rich and important biodiversity. Essex County is full of these critical ecological hotspots and here is a chance for you and your kids to learn about the amazing creatures that depend on them for survival. This trip will meet at the end of Andrews Street in Essex.
Directions: From downtown Essex, take Southern Avenue towards Manchester for about a mile until you see Andrews Street on the right. Take Andrews and follow the ECTA signs to a green gate where the walk will start. For a GoogleMap, click here.
This is a great place to explore as it is part of the 3000 acre Manchester Essex Wooodlands, part of which is protected by the Manchester Essex Conservation Trust and Essex County Greenbelt Association.
