Dear ECTA Supporters, We have been incredibly busy with many great events for all of our supporters this spring! The 18th Annual Equine Expo was once again a huge success, thanks to Kay Joseph and Sue McLaughlin. The Discover Hamilton Trail Walk & Celebration in May brought out 65 walkers, and 27 teams participated in the3rd Annual ECTAthlon this past weekend! We hope that you were able to join us at some of these events, but if not, be sure to mark your calendars for ourIpswich River Tree Walk this Sunday, ourChebacco Woods Trail Walk on June 22nd, and ourECTA Day at Myopia Polo on June 23rd! In addition to all of these great events, we have been just as busy working on the trails and securing new trail easements…more to come on this work soon!
Discover Hamilton Trail Walk
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Discover Hamilton Trail Walk & Celebration on May 18th! The weather was beautiful, and 65 walkers of all ages met us at the start of the walk at the Myopia Schooling Field just behind Patton Park. Susanna Colloredo and John Hendrickson spoke briefly about the history of the 8-mile loop trail and ECTA’s recent work to reroute portions of the trail off of roadway.
Thank you to all of the participants and volunteers who made the 3rd Annual ECTAthlon a huge success!! The exceptionally hot weather presented us with new challenges this year, but everyone finished the event despite the heat! We had 27 teams competing this year…a total of 103 competitors, over 50 volunteers, and many more companion riders. Congratulations to the Wild Woodsmen, BillieBo Farm and the EBSCO Pickled Herrings on their first, second and third place wins!
Join Board Members Joe Sandulli and Dan Mayer on a guided tree identification walk around the Ipswich River Watershed Association “Riverbend” campus and neighboring properties. We will begin at the IRWA parking lot and will first explore the trails on this publicly accessible property. Next we will move onto the private trails adjacent to Riverbend. ECTA is currently working on securing trail easements across these private trails so that the entire trail network will be open to the public.
