The Bay Circuit Trail connection between Dow Brook and Rt 133 in Rowley is currently in poor condition. The area of primary concern is located north of Propect Street just outside the western edge of a private residence. An underground spring has washed out soils under the trail and there is a hole that goes down about 3′ in the middle of the trail. The hole itself is hazardous, and the footing under the trail is very unstable. This alternate route is recommended until rerouting or repairs can be done:
From the south – Continue heading N/NE to Prospect Street, pass one private resident on the left, then take trail to the left off of Prospect Street (before next residence), follow NW to Rt 133
From the north – Continue to follow the main trail SE (do not turn right to go up the hill) until you reach Prospect Street, then turn right onto Prospect, follow to end of road and continue on trail straight ahead.
