Dear ECTA Supporters,
We have a lot to celebrate this month at ECTA! We are excited to announce that we have been awarded a grant from the Recreational Trails Program to improve and expand the trail network in and around the Ipswich River Watershed Association’s Riverbend campus. We kicked off this project with a Volunteer Trail Work Day on November 9th, and we’d like to celebrate all of the volunteers who joined us for this fantastic day! Nearly 50 volunteers came out on a brisk November morning to clear trails at the newly expanded Riverbend campus of the Ipswich River Watershed Association. We uncovered the remains of the rockery, which was once part of the renowned landscape gardens at George Barnard’s estate, added a new trail to connect to the canoe launch accessible parking area and expanded an existing trail near the IRWA driveway.
On November 21st, The Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation announced the recipients of the 2013 Recreational Trails Program grants, and ECTA is one of 32 grant award winners! The $20,700 grant will be used to improve & expand the trail network on both sides of County Road in Ipswich.
