28 volunteers from ECTA, REI, the Town of Ipswich, the Bay Circuit Trail Alliance and Americorps joined us on Saturday, November 3rd to improve the Dow Brook Conservation Area trail network. We accomplished our three main goals of rerouting a section of trail, starting construction on a boardwalk through the wetland area, and adding crushed stone a muddy part of the trail. We were even able to work on a few more sections of the trail!
By the end of the day, the boardwalk was about 90% complete, which was more than we had anticipated! We would like to recognize the volunteers who stayed after lunch to continue to work on this project with designer and contractor Bob Weatherall: Dave Carpenter, Mike McGarty, Zach Abuzza, Rick Silverman, Steve Haberek and Norm Marsh.
