New Changes at ECTA will help protect our trails and open spaces

We have seen some exciting changes at ECTA over the last few months! In February, we welcomed Peter Campot as our new Chairman of the Board and this summer, we added the Outreach Coordinator position to our staff to handle the increasing administrative and communications efforts of the organization.

As you know, we have a fantastic Board of Directors that contribute many volunteer hours to assure that the organization stays on top of its game.   These efforts range from accounting to overseeing insurance to helping manage our team of volunteer trail stewards.   In February, after adeptly overseeing a two year transition from a volunteer to a staffed organization, Susie Banta stepped down as Chairman of the Board and excitedly welcomed Peter Campot into this position.   In addition to his work as President of Healthcare/Science and Technology  for Suffolk Construction Company, Peter volunteers as a member of the Board of Directors for The Bert L. and Natalie K. Vallee Foundation, Inc., and as a trustee for the Berry Fund Charitable Foundation.   Peter previously served as President of the Board of Directors of Green Mountain Horse Association and was active in the United States Marine Corps.   Peter’s leadership and organizational strengths are a great asset for ECTA as we take on larger and more intricate projects.

We have made some changes and additions at the staff level as well.   In order to keep up with the administrative needs of our growing organization, we have hired Ashley Hill as Outreach Coordinator.   Ashley was briefly a Board Member and has a detailed knowledge of the trail system through years of hunting with Myopia and as a native of Ipswich.   You will be hearing more about us and from us as Ashley focuses her efforts on communications, event and volunteer coordination as well as making sure our increasingly busy office runs smoothly.   Read more about Ashley…

This change will allow Alex Van Alen, our Executive Director, to focus more of his time in the office on securing trail easements, writing foundation and public agency grants, and overseeing trail maintenance and improvements.   With the support of the Board of Directors, in addition to continuing his efforts as Executive Director, he will be using his real estate license to bring about conservation results for important properties on the North Shore.   While this work is independent of his time and efforts at ECTA, we are excited that it will support our overall mission of protecting access to local trails and open lands.   Read more about Alex…

Carol Lloyd will remain as our Director of Trail Management, continuing her work on our larger trail repair projects and trail easements.   Read more about Carol…
