Dear ECTA Supporters,
What a beautiful summer we have had, with so many opportunities to enjoy our incredible open spaces. If you’re worried that summer is drawing to a close, remember that this is the best time of year to hit the trails – the weather is cooler, the bugs are gone, and ECTA has lots of events to keep you busy!
ECTA Day at Myopia Polo
We hope that you all will join us for a relaxing afternoon of elite equestrian sport this Sunday at the Myopia Hunt Club. Enjoy a picnic lunch with fellow ECTA members while you take in the action of the Governor’s Cup polo match. At halftime, Suzanne Hamilton will perform a musical dressage freestyle routine on her grand prix stallion, Lord Locksley. A unique ECTA event that you won’t want to miss!
Start training now for ECTA’s 5-mile and 10-mile trail courses highlighting some of the North Shore’s best public and private trails! On September 20th we’ll celebrate 10 years of this special event, which is part of New England Running’s North Shore Trail Series. Don’t miss out on Dave’s home-made post-race hot soups, an annual favorite, and look for a few new surprises in honor of our anniversary!
Thank you to Board Member and Trail Steward Joe Sandulli, and his wife Chris, who led 11 ECTA members on a trail ride Sunday from his house in Ipswich to the Donovan Hill Trail off of Sagamore Street in Hamilton. The 8.5-mile route passed through Appleton Farms, New England Biolabs, and the Julia Bird Reservation, as well as several private trails, most of which are protected under ECTA trail easements. The group was treated to a mid-ride refreshment stop by Liz & Bill Wheaton, and enjoyed a few snacks and drinks on Joe’s back patio over looking the beautiful Ipswich River before heading home for a good rest!
