ECTA and Trees Unlimited
Summer Job Description
Essex County Trail Association is looking for a summer part-time person to work for one of our contractors, Trees Unlimited, maintaining trails and doing tree work on the North Shore from June – August this year. We anticipate having 25 – 35 hours per week of work and salary will be commensurate with experience. Candidates must be 18+.
General Trail Maintenance, tasks to include:
- Cutting brush back on the trails
- Mowing
- Removing downed or dangerous trees
- Maintenance and repair of trail surfaces and pathways
- Working with Tree Climbers and Bucket Operators
- Ornamental Pruning
- Chipping of Brush/Removed Tree Limbs

Essex County Trail Association is dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of open trails throughout its six member towns in Essex County, Massachusetts for the purpose of passive recreation and for the benefit of the public. It works with landowners, conservation organizations, town officials, and trail users to ensure that access to natural places and open spaces remains a part of Essex County’s rich heritage.
Trees Unlimited of New England is a full-service tree company owned by a local arborist and serves the whole of Essex County. The company offers a range of services from tree removal and small lot clearing / ecologically minded forestry to cabling, bracing, and pruning of both native and ornamental/non-native trees and shrubs, as well as emergency response to storm related damage. Trees Unlimited has worked in partnership with the ECTA to facilitate the upkeep of existing trails as well as the opening or reopening of additional trails.
