Winter Trail Use

Hoping to x-country ski, snowshoe, mountain bike, or hike on snowy north shore trails this winter? So are we! When it snows, some local trails are groomed with tracks for skiing or mountain biking. To maintain the tracks, it’s best to use these groomed trails for their intended purposes only. Please see below for tracked trails info and locations!

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING

At APPLETON FARMS: North Shore Nordic is grooming XC ski trails at Appleton Farms, see map below. Most of the groomed skiing is on the west side of the tracks, and is best accessed from the Grass Rides parking lot on Highland Street. �Please Note: dogs and bikes are only allowed in the wooded section SW section of Appleton – the Grass Rides. �Anywhere labeled ‘no dogs’ is also off limits to bikes, including Fat Bikes. � Walkers please stay off the groomed tracks. The groomed ski trails take many volunteer hours to prepare, and are easily damaged by walkers or cyclists, especially in the first few days after a storm while the trails are soft. � Please see the NSNA website, Instagram, or Facebook for updates on grooming and skiing conditions.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

At WILLOWDALE STATE FOREST: North Shore NEMBA plows the parking area on Linebrook Road and grooms the Willowdale trails for mountain bikers. See map below. Trails groomed for Mountain Biking in GREEN.
